Armaz Asen
Rank: Soldier
Profile:
Armaz is fairly tall (about 6'0"), with a lithe build. His skin has
a darker tinge to it in keeping with his kin.
Like few of his people, Armaz's hair is a dark, almost black, brown which
he keeps cropped to a manage-able length (about 3 inches). His eyes are
also a piercingly dark brown.
Having been raised among his people, Armaz is fairly wary of any outsiders,
and is therefore usually fairly stone-faced and does not show much emotion
outwardly with people he does not know well. Being banished from his clan
have only made him stick to his beliefs and teachings all the more, and
his time among the wetlanders of the world have only succeeded in making
him even more self-relient.
Overall, he is a fairly reserved individual which makes his reactions
and outward physical actions hard to interpret. While he does keep mostly
to himself, Armaz will on rare occasions, slowly get to know someone.
It is his nature that, when he judges someone honest and trustworthy,
he is a fierce and loyal friend.
One rather distinguishing feature is a scar on Armaz's face that runs
at an angle from roughly half an inch below his left eye, to about an
inch above it. The scar, however, did not damage his eye and runs mere
millimeters away from the outside corner.
Biography:
Born of the Taardad Aiel clan, Armaz was raised from birth to hone
his physical strength and skill in order to survive. He spent many of
his younger years with his peers being trained in the Aiel ways of ji'e'toh
and the spear, both of which he mastered with surprising speed and skill
for his age. It was this disturbingly odd aptitude for learning that
made the Wise Ones and elders of his clan start to keep a closer eye
on Armaz as he grew.
For all intents and purposes, the Wise Ones of Armaz's clan had no
concrete explanation as to how Armaz was able to so quickly learn and
master most tasks that were put to him and they eventually contented
themselves with merely keeping an eye on him. It wasn't until the eve
of his seventeenth naming day when his clan hold was attacked by the
Shaido that they finally had the answers to their unanswered questions,
and Armaz finally displayed a raw outburst of the spark that he had
been born with.
During the raid, when a small group of about five Shaido men crept
into his home as he and his family slept, Armaz was woken up by his
mother's bloodcurdling scream. As he ran to his parents' aid he was
filled with a power that he had never known he could wield and, without
any conscious thought, engulfed his mothers' murderers in a weave of
blazing white flames. Armaz then ran outside to help fight off the rest
of the attackers on his hold with what remained of his clan and, try
as they might, the Shaido could not seem to land any blows on Armaz
as he had unknowingly shielded himself with weaves of solid air. His
power was not infallible however as a well aimed arrow grazed his face
and left him with a scar underneath his left eye that would forever
serve as a reminder of that fateful night.
It wasn't until after that night that Armaz was recognized by his kin
for what he was - a male that was able to channel. Having never come
across the like of Armaz in their lifetime, the Wise Ones of Armaz's
sept did what they could to help him tame the power within him before
banishing him from the three-fold land forever.
Not much is known of Armaz in the following years save that he wandered
the world in search of answers and a place to belong. Slowly, he was
finally able to stop himself from unconsciously seizing hold of saidin
and endangering those around him, but even Armaz knew it was only a
temporary solution to a problem he knew would eventually kill him. It
was at this time in his life that Armaz heard tell of a place where
he could learn to hone his powers - The Grey Tower. It wasn't until
he was twenty that Armaz finally laid eyes on the majestic building
that he hoped would be able to offer him answers and, with any luck,
guidance.
