Thiada do'Raishan
Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah
Also plays Novice Onua Kourina Sayani
Profile
Quieter than her twin sister, Ladrinne, which isn't saying
much, Thiada was apprentice to Mistress Riede, a Wisdom, rather
than walk with her friends to flirt with boys, or mooning over
dresses and such in shops when she wasn't busy at home. She's
seventeen, chubby, with strawberry blonde hair to the middle
of her back and blue-green
aquamarine eyes, always said to look like the waters of the Aryth
by her father, a fisherman.
Biography
The day dawned clear and bright, but Thiada was already
closing the door to the small house she lived in with her parents,
and siblings. She was slightly chubby, with strawberry blonde
hair worn in the multiple braids of her heritage. A plain, blue
woolen dress brought out the blue in her blue-green eyes, often
described as the same shade
of the water of the Aryth ocean, so said her father, a fisherman.
The streets of Tanchico were already crowded,
but she quickly made her way to the doorstep of Mistress Riede,
the local Wisdom, whom she often helped instead of visit with
her friends. As usual, Thiada entered the house without knocking
and walked towards the back, where the kitchen was. Which is
where she took the people who came to her to help them.
Upon entering, the first thing Thiada did was
inhale the scent of assorted herbs, then she looked around to
take in the welcoming sight of shelves and racks filled with
herbs and spices. On the stove was a pair of simmering pots,
for Mistress Riede believed that food was the medicine for the
soul and herbs were for the body. An odd sight, however, was
that this morning Mistress Riede wasn't alone at the antique
table, its top riddled with scars.
"Child," Mistress Riede began, her
face pale and voice uncharacteristically weak. She stood and
gestured for Thiada to take her place at the table. "This..
woman.. do be having something to tell you." That said,
she swept out of the room. Thiada thought she may have seen tears
on the womans face, but quickly dismissed the idea. Years ago,
probably before she had been born, Marelle Riede left Illian
after her husbands death to live with her sister, who also died
years ago. Needless to say, the woman had a skin of stone but
a heart of gold.
Clearing her throat, Thiada looked across the
table at the woman. She had a mane of dark hair, a single lock
of silver framing her face, which showed no apparent age whatsoever.
Something reflected light and caught her eye, a great serpent
ring. Eyes widened, Thiada rose her eyes to collide with the
Aes Sedai's.
"You know what I am, then." the woman
confirmed. Thiada nodded. "Then you must guess why I am
here." No nod this time, just a shake of her head. "Surely
you must wonder why I suddenly appear in Mistress Riede's kitchen,
today of all days?" Wincing inside, Thiada realized. Today
was hers and Ladrinne's seventeenth birthday, and this Aes Sedai
was here to take her away.
