Tidral Laeron
Profile Tidral was born near the sea and grew up in the water. His greyish green eyes reflect the water and when his mood his stormy, so are the seas of his eyes. In fact, his whole character reflects the ocean, calm and smooth and unruffled, but when he loses control the waves crash and the wind roars from within him and it is a god idea to batten down the hatches, hide belowdecks and wait for the storm to pass. While rather slender in build, Tidral nonetheless has a wiry, muscular body and a much greater height than is common among the Tairens. Always wearing a small smile on his face, Tidral carries the attitude that he knows things others do not know and that he sees things others do not see. Which is sometimes true, for he learned long ago how to read people and understand them. He knows how people think and how they react in many situations and he has turned this to his advantage many times. Until one day someone accused him of channeling and he was almost driven from his home. Tairens, after all, do not like anyone or anything that has anything to do with the One Power. So Tidral left Tear and went to the Gray Tower, to test himself, for the accusation of being able to channel awoke in him a desire to know and be able to channel. It is a dream to learn to channel and become an Asha'man, to defend the light and battle the shadow, weilding power unknown among common men. For this, Tidral has come to the Gray Tower. Biography Tidral Laeron loved the sea. For all of his 22 years, he worked as a boatman or a sailor or even as a salvage diver, diving into the murky deep of the ocean to gather wreckage and recover lost items dropped from ships' decks. While many feared the deep, grayish-blue waters of the sea, Tidral gloried in the freedom of his body and his mind as he swum far below the surface, oftentimes staying submerged for five minutes or more, holding his breath without effort. Indeed sometimes it seemed to him as if he could simply open his mouth under the water and breath normally, as if it were air. But everyone knew that was impossible and Tidral never mentioned the sensation to anyone. Over time, he grew taller and soon he began to work on the docks, oftentimes trading the things which he salvaged to shipowners and dockworkers. He loved the brisk business of trade and barter, always trying to outwit those you traded with, always trying to reserve the best deal for yourself. He grew to recognize the good traders and the poor ones, those whom he should avoid and those who should avoid him and he began to prosper. He traded sharply andd sometimes he could almost tell when someone would accept his offer or when he could offer less or sell for more. And sometimes people accepted strange offers just by his presence at the bartering table. Then came one fateful day that Tidral pushed his bargaining too far and he sold some artifact or other for far more than it was actually worth. TOO far. The man with whom he was bartering stood up suddenly throwing the table aside as he realized just what he had just paid for a useless trinket. "You young rascal! What did you do to me?! You are an Aes Sedai, manipulating me with the One Power! Admit it shadowspawn!!" Tidral fled to the one place he could think. As he
swum below the crashing surf, he thought about what the man had said.
The One Power. Could he truly learn to use it? That would be a dream
fulfilled to him. He was NOT shadowspawn, he had a deep hatred of the
shadow after seeing his mother and father killed by darkfriends in an
uprising in the Mauve. He wanted nothing more than to be able to learn
to channel and serve the light as an Asha'man, a defender and champion
of truth and justice. And thus, he decided, "I will go to the gray
tower and I will become Asha'man," he thought.
