Introduction:
The purpose of the Sovin Tar is to encourage members of the Grey Tower to be out and involved in the world at large, within the context of covert operations. To that end, any Seneshal of the Sovin Tar may plan and run missions, with the guidance of this webpage and the Sovin Tar leadership. The Seneshal is responsible for running the mission, arranging for the NPCs of the opposition forces, enforcing the GT Rules during the mission, and seeing the mission to a conclusion.
Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a mission?
- Only Seneshals can begin missions. If you're not a Seneshal, then become one or partner with one. Even learning ranks may parnter with a Seneshal to run a mission, though the Seneshal will be the IC leader. If you are a Seneshal, then begin by fleshing out your idea.
- Where will you go?
- What is the mission objective?
- What will the opposing forces be like? Shadowspawn, Black Ajah, Darkfriends, Seanchan, Shaido Aiel, Whitecloaks, Dragonsworn, and bandits are all possible opponents.
- What will the company's plan be?
- Are there any special conditions? Special conditions can really help make your mission interesting by forcing your team to change their approach.
- What will happen if your company fails one or all parts of the mission?
Note, your mission may contain multiple sub-objectives. For example, you may wish your company to do an infiltration and then an assassination, or a recon followed by a diversionary attack and a hostage rescue. The limits are up to you.
- Once you have your idea, if your mission is an easy mission, then simply recruit your team and perform the mission. However, if your mission is an intermediate mission or a hard mission, then you must obtain approval from one of the Sovin Tar leadership first. If you're unsure, ask us. It's better to make certain than to be in error. If you abuse this policy, you may be stripped of the rank of Seneshal.
- Next, recruit your company. Check the Member Listings for Sovin Tar members with the skills needed for your mission. If there are needed skills that the Sovin Tar members can't provide, check out the Sovin Tar NPC list for existing Sovin Tar NPCs, or create one yourself!
- Finally, run your mission. Missions may take place anywhere, but most commonly on the Mission Board, the Out of Tower Board, or the Citadel Board. If your mission is sufficiently large, feel free to make it into a Major Roleplay. Note, the Seneshal is responsible for completely running the mission as well as enforcing the GT rules while the mission is ongoing. If a Seneshal fails to enforce the GT rules on their mission, or if too many of a Seneshal's missions are abandoned before completion, he/she may lose the title of Seneshal. Once lost, reinstatement is at the sole discretion of the Master of Spies.

How long should my mission be?
As long as it needs to be. Missions can be anything from a short thread to a full major RP, depending on how complicated you want it to be. You can also string missions back-to-back and run multiple sub-missions at once. The more complex the mission, the harder it is to run, however, so cooperating with other members may be advisable.

What resources are there to help me?
The Sovin Tar website has numerous resources to help you plan missions.
- First and foremost, the Mission Types page has a listing of common missions and objectives for you to base your plot on.
- Similarly, our Rogues' Gallery has a listing of past enemies who are still at large. Feel free to use them for your missions.
- Our Hall of Victories has a listing of vanquished opponents that can also help provide ideas. Deceased enemies may have allies who wish to take revenge, captured enemies can escape, and turned enemies can be turned again.
- Finally, the Mission Archive summarizes all previous missions. Any one of them can be used as a springboard for a new mission!

What do I do when the mission is complete?
Email the Master of Spies to notify him the mission is complete. Include the following:
- Summarize the mission and it's outcome for posting on the Mission Archive.
- Email descriptions of all defeated NPCs for posting on the Hall of Victories.
- Inform the Master of Spies if you want any surviving bad guys to treated as public NPCs and posted on the Rogues' Gallery.

Can you walk me through this process?
Of course. Jaymes Asha'man is a Seneshal of the Sovin Tar, and wants to begin a mission. He looks at the Mission Types page and decides that a Raid mission sounds like fun. Jaymes is an Indigo, so he decides that the Raid mission should target a small cache of ter'angreal. Since they're ter'angreal, perhaps they're being held by a small group of Black Ajah. The company will locate the ter'angreal with a Prophet who can Dreamwalk, giving them an idea of where it's located. Then, they'll Travel to the area and raid the building. Since the defenders are Black Ajah, he needs some Channeler Combatants or Battleweavers and probably a few Men-at-Arms to deal with any Warders. Based on this plan, he needs a Prophet, a Traveller, and some Channeler Combatants. He decides that it would be helpful to have an Archiater to help with injuries and someone who has the Talent for Ter'angreal Affinity to identify them when they're found.
Jaymes fleshes out his NPC bad guys more thoroughly, choosing to make up his own instead of using some from the Rogue's Gallery. With his plan complete, he emails the Ta'vron for approval. The Ta'vron suggests some refinements to Jaymes' idea and approves the plan. Next, Jaymes goes to the Member Listings and the NPC Listings and contacts the people he wishes to have on his team. When his Company is complete, Jaymes posts an announcement on the Sovin Tar OOC MB to announce the mission, and he starts the thread on the Mission Board. He runs the mission, and when the mission is complete, he emails the Master of Spies about the completion. The Master of Spies adds the mission to the Mission Archive, defeated bad guys to the Hall of Victories, and surviving bad guys to the Rogues' Gallery.
