What are the Sovin Tar?

Just as the Tower Guard are the military arm of the Grey Tower, the Sovin Tar are the paramilitary arm. Unlike a conventional army, the Sovin Tar relies on small but skilled forces, high mobility and secrecy to execute their missions.

What missions will they perform? Who can start a mission?

There are a wide variety of mission types, from simple patrols to hostage rescue. Any Seneshal or Sovin Tar officer can plan and lead missions, although intermediate or advanced missions require the IC and OOC approval of one of the Sovin Tar officers. The Seneshal running the mission is responsible for enforcing the "no-Godmoding" rule for all those participating. Failure to do so may result in the loss of Seneshal-status. For more information, please see the mission descriptions page.

How do I join a mission? Where are the briefings?

When a mission is imminent, Tower servants in the employ of the Master of Spies will deliver coded notes to all qualifying members of the Sovin Tar, indicating the time and place for a meeting. The location can be anywhere from the Warder Yards loft to the storerooms of the seventh subbasement.

Out of character, missions will be announced on the Sovin Tar main page and the Sovin Tar OOC message board.

Can Learning Ranks join?

Anyone can join the Sovin Tar, and will be utilized according to their abilities. Even the freshest Novice or Soldier can participate in simple patrols and training missions. With time, their skills will increase and the danger will increase accordingly.

Who should my character contact to join the Sovin Tar?

The Cor'vron monitors the Warder Yard ranks for promising candidates, and the Ta'vron does the same for the Channeler ranks. We will contact you if you show the skill and temprament to join our ranks. Purely out of character, however, we have a joining form.

Which missions require which skill levels?

Any member can participate in training missions. The composition of other field missions is largely dependant on the Seneshal in charge of the mission, as he has the best idea of what skills are required for victory.

Who is in charge of the Sovin Tar?

The Sovin Tar is under the command of the Master of Spies, who directs the Sovin Tar, maintains the website, and represents the Sovin Tar in the Hall of Sitters. Beneath the Master of Spies are the Cor'vron and Ta'vron. The Cor'vron is in charge of applications and advanced training for non-channeler applicants. The Ta'vron is in charge of applications and advanced training for channeler applicants. The Master of Spies is nominated by the Executive Council and confirmed by the Hall of Sitters. He then appoints the Cor'vron and Ta'vron from within the ranks of the Sovin Tar.
