  Calianna Mordenda

Calianna Mordenda has never liked being bored.

She was born into a very minor noble house in Cairhien, where the only thing noble about it was its name and its attitude, like many others. Calianna was the fifth child to her house, and there would be two more to follow.

The girl often fell into the pit of notice somewhere in the middle, generally forgotten in the wake of the older ones moving through society or the care demanded by the younger ones. She was forced to find ways to amuse herself, but with many limitations - like a lack of funds despite the noble name, her very gender and an over-abundance of people in her home (namely family), she quickly ran out of things that interested her.

The Great Game was taught to the girl from a young age, but she quickly became bored with it in her early adolescence, following her less than enthusiastic childhood. It was simply that it was all the same. Every noble person and every noble house did the same thing. Nothing ever changed.

While many of her peers - or those who were noted as her peers due to relative positions, ages or ranks - found the Great Game to be thrilling and full of intrigue, Calianna watched it all with an ever growing amount of disdain. There was no intrigue, because none of these people, their paltry actions or their constant vying for power were in any way intriguing.

At sixteen, her parents decided that they were apparently bored with her in turn and chose an engagement for her. It was a way to align the house with another house of insignificant nobility that Calianna could not find it in her to care any less about. The boy they chose was pretty enough, but had the personality of a rock garden.

Calianna did not tell anyone her thoughts, since she didn't really care if they knew, or cared, or not. She let her parents dress her up and parade her into the engagement dinner where everyone toasted their own wisdom at the match of these two 'fine young people'. During the dessert course, she excused herself briefly...

...and left the house. It was easy to slip out through the window of her first story room while all the guards were guarding the small dining hall.

She even found life on the road interesting, for a time. Calianna was a pretty enough girl and always seemed to manage to attract some man or another to give her what she needed or take her where she wanted to go, although she grew bored very quickly with the men and never stayed anywhere for long, often abandoning them right as they began to feel something for her, and feel useless to her.

After a year, she grew bored again.

Hearing a rumor of a place called the Grey Tower, she bartered passage there, since she was closer to there than the White Tower after all this time. She had interest in these Aes Sedai women, powerful legends. Perhaps she could become one of them, because that would have to hold some interest.

Calianna was tested upon arrival and was not born with the Spark, but was able to learn and decided that she liked the prospect. It sounded interesting, and it was... for a while. She soon grew bored during the years of her Accepted rank, when women around her began to bore her as well, and she disliked classes.

She kept with it, though, for the promise of something intriguing in being an Aes Sedai. She pursued the Green because it seemed like it afforded the most travel, and because you could bond more than one Warder. That way if she got bored with one, she could have another to keep her amused till the first one interested her again.

Inside the year before she would gain her shawl, she was discovered by a member of the Black Ajah. This woman, a fellow Aes Sedai, noted Calianna's penchant for finding amusement at the expense of others. Over time, the woman would find that Calianna would go to almost any length to avoid boredom, so long as it didn't hurt herself. She cared little for anyone else and was willing to try just about anything.

Calianna rose into two Ajahs simultaneously.

Description: Calianna is the average Cairhienin with a small stature, dark hair and dark eyes and pale skin. She doesn't stand out in any crowd, but is pretty enough to be able to use it when she wishes. Vanity is not overly possessed in her, but she will never let herself go completely. She does maintain some standards.

Since attaining the shawl, she has pursued life on both sides and finds the travel and access of the Green lends well to pursuing her darker interests. Thus far, the Black Ajah's lack of limits or boundaries of conscience have proven to keep her very amused, because there is always somewhere deeper to go and one is not like all the others.

Even remaining in hiding has proved of interest, like a game... a great game of intrigue, and interest.
