October 14th-31st, 2010

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Congratulations to Dedicated Jasrin on making it through the three arches, and even bigger congratulations to Vibyka Gaidar for passing her survival test and gaining the fancloak!  Well done, both of you.

Entrants in the vocabulary contest this round--and all winners of the Keeper's Choice Pin--are: Illyria, Latonia, Saffiah, and Vibyka.  Keeper's Choice Pin And for a particularly outstanding fanfic that made use of both Poe's work and the word macabre, Jasrin wins the Keeper's Choice Ribbon.  Keeper's Choice Ribbon Honorable mention and a pin go to Anahi for creativity born of obstinacy.

NaNoWriMo kicks off at midnight tonight in your time zone.  (Yes, your time zone, no matter which it is!)  I know lots of us GT types plan to participate, and we'd love to have more of our friends try it, too.

Last but certainly not least, we have a Big RP opening today!  I encourage you to sign up even if you're beset with school, work, and NaNo noveling because it's not one to be missed (even if I do say so myself).  Not your run-of-the-mill holiday or fancy-dress ball, this; the Tower is under attack!  Sign up on the MMB and keep an eye out for updates on when and where to see the story unfold.  There will be prizes afterward!

October 2-13th, 2010

Many congratulations to our newest member of the White Ajah, Anahi Asha'man!  May there be much drinking of milk and riding of polar bears in honor of the occasion.

The winner--and only entrant--of the vocabulary game is Maria Norakovni.  She wins this lovely new Keeper's Choice pin: Pin.  Envious?  Keep reading to find out how you can win one!

Halloween is sneaking up fast.  From now until October 31st, try using the word macabre or working a line of text from any of Edgar Allan Poe's works into a post or fanfic.  Participants will all be congratulated in the next blog update, and pins will be awarded for outstanding entries.  To enter, submit fanfics through the Library as usual and email the title of your fanfic or the URL of your post to the admin account with "attn: KoC" as the subject line.

Macabre: an adjective meaning related to death, focused on the gruesome, or tending to horrify the beholder.

September 21 - October 1, 2010

Let's start off with a warm welcome for novice Driessa Ramir this week!

A friendly reminder to all the students out there: finish your homework before you write for GT.  I know we're more fun, but school is more important.  And speaking of learning, let's play a new game!  I'll give you a word, and you have ten days to use it in a post or fanfic at GT.  Those who use it correctly and notify me of its use will have their names mentioned in the next blog entry; really outstanding entries may receive a Keeper's Choice ribbon.  Ready?  Let's begin.

Mellifluous: an adjective, meaning possessed of a smooth, rich, flow, (a mellifluous voice).

Fanfic entries should be submitted through the form in the Library as usual. Email me "attn: KoC" at the admin account with a link to your post or the title of your fanfic.  Have entries in by October 10th, 2010.
