Learning Ranks

The Halls of the Grey Tower students are energetic and bustling with initiates. Novices, Soldiers and Drin'far'ji marvel at the new-found miracles of this place while Accepted, Dedicated and Ji'alantin teach classes and help others on their way to become Aes Sedai, Asha'man, Gaidin or Gaidar.

The Mistress of Novices, Master of Soldiers, and Master of Training would remind students of all ranks to mind their manners and be on their best behavior at all times. There are to be no childish pranks, no consumption of intoxicating substances, and absolutely no entanglements in inappropriate, distracting relationships of a romantic nature. (On an out-of-character note, we'd like to strongly encourage all these things, as getting caught at them is lots of fun.)

May 24, 2010 22:52:50 		The Aes Sedai's snapped words stung, even though Liaran knew she should have expected them. Aes Sedai never explained themselves to novices, yet she'd truly thought Sulinn Sedai was different. As if the woman was reading Liaran's mind, she relented. Liaran's dark eyes widened as she took in the full explanation. She met the Aes Sedai's blue eyes and nodded. She could not have spoken, even had she had words to speak.

The sky was the deep black of midnight. With clouds covering the stars, Liaran could hardly find her way on the path. The Aes Sedai and her Warder were vague black shadows ahead of her, rushing on to an unknown destination. She did say Amadicia, didn't she? Liaran thought. That had been bothering her. The novice was sure she'd heard that name mentioned before, in one of the endlessly boring lectures novices were forced to attend. Isn't that the one place where channeling is against their laws? She thought she remembered that. How would two channelers be any safer there than here, within the Tower walls? After Sulinn Sedai's initial reaction, Liaran did not dare ask. She only followed, eyes switching between the path and the shapes ahead of her, quite more silent than she was used to being.
