Oenone was a ball of impatience in his head, but that was nothing unusual, she had been stressed ever since Sulinn had insulted her, and their subsequent discussion. He had made things worse, he always made things worse with Oenone, it seemed that everything he said was twisted and turned until it provided an uterly different meaning and insulted or upset Oenone. He had never been good with words, but never had that problem got him into so much trouble.

These were Jip's thoughts as he watched a class, trying to concentrate on what they were practicing instead of the ball of irratation in his mind. She was angry now, what had happened? He looked to the side as a Ji'alantin approached. The man told him he was needed in the nursary and Jip nodded, worried again, telling the Ji'alantin to take over he made for the nursary, wondering what had happened and if this was the source of Oenone's anger.

She wasn't there, but the stern woman who ran the nursary was, and she glared at Jip as he entered. "He bit Rahiel," she said with a glare. "He can return tomorrow if he promises not to bite," Jip went forward to where Amil was sat sulking, the child did not even look at him at first but took his hand and walked out with him. When Amil had first came to nursary he had gotten in a lot of trouble and the teachers had wanted to throw him out altogether until Oenone had spoken to them.

The head woman, Narla her name was, according to Amil anyways, she had never given Jip her name. She seemed to have something against Jip, or perhaps it was against Gaidin, or just men in general, but she had made no secret of the fact she thought Jip was a lousy guardian and she preferred to deal with Oenone and forget that Jip existed.

They got round the corner and Amil started speaking without prompting, "She wa' mean to me so I bit her." Amil's tone and face showed that he was not a bit sorry but before Jip could question him Oenone's emotions exploded. Jip did not even stop to think, he picked Amil up and set off towards their rooms where he hoped Oenone was. He got their just in time to see Garren storm past him and Oenone storm out the rooms. Had they been arging? What was going on. Oenone snapped something about leaving and Jip nodded, dashing inside and grabbing Amil's bag, wondering where they were going and if he should take Amil to Kailitha.

Amil was getting more and more upset in his arms, asking why Oenone was mad and where they were going. Jip whispered to him, telling him they were going on an adventure and Amil had to be brave boy. That stopped his cries and he sat silently on Jip's hip though he quickly went to Oenone when she reached for him so Jip could go through the gateway first, though Garren had caught up with them now, the two moved through the gateway, the heat hit him and he blinked, scanning the strange place for danger.

Where were they? The waste? Was this the waste? Jip had never been there but this sounded like how it had been described to him. Before any of them could do anything a figure appeared. It was Sulinn, what in the light was she doing here?

As she launched herself at Oenone Jip moved towards them, ready to take action.
