  • Aes Sedai, Asha'man and Gaidin may go where they choose
  • Accepted and Dedicated and Gaidin-in-Training may not travel further than a few miles from the Grey Tower, except with permission, or when they are on an errand.

Everything was blurring together in her mind and she was fighting for coherence. It didn't seem to make any sense, and without the bond she was given no anchor by which to gauge or even guess what was happening with the moron she was still married to. (In this instance, even she was aware that her inner anger was a defense against the darkness that was the bond's absence.)

Lysira knew that the last person she wanted to see was that Zae woman who had been the catalyst, or trigger, for the final slide of her marriage... but she knew Aden called her with reason and so the Gaidar did not comment.

What had he meant when he said he was not sorry? It hadn't seemed like her husband then. He would never apologize to her, and he had said as much two months ago. It was all so damned strange!

Standing a little apart, she stared at Jerid with large dark eyes. Her expression was blank but for a tightness of the skin around those eyes, fighting herself. Her arms were folded across her chest while the Yellow worked. She kept herself from crying. From screaming. From throwing herself at Jerid's body and beating the injuries back into him. From begging the Creator to make it all better. From... too many things.

I've not seen him much in the past two months, or even the past year, she signed in small, tight gestures. I was in my quarters with my son. I felt the bond break and I found my mother, who wove a gateway. I found Jerid unconscious at the Portal Stone, and we brought him back here and you know the rest. She forced her eyes to meet Aden's and as they reached those of another person, the pain was clear.

I don't know what he was doing, or what he was trying to achieve. I only know that the bond broke and I no longer have it, and I know that... She frowned, looking at Jerid again and feeling glad she didn't have a voice to get choked up with. That something is off about this man. She paused, then decided to share a confidence with the Yellow, who could be as frustrated as she with Jerid's antics.

Two months ago he told me quite clearly he'd not apologize to me for anything he'd done, she said. You know what he's like, so you'll understand when I say that he was quite certain when he said it and yet he just now apologized to me, when he's not recently done anything to me. I don't know what happened, but something is wrong in his mind and not just his body.

For now, she was trying not to focus on the idea of Jerid remaining in a coma forever... Focus on the present. It was the best she could do.
