Welcome to One Power Basics. This is where you will learn some fundamental weaves with each of the five Powers - the bare bones of channeling. These will be one-on-one lessons, written specificly to meet your needs while teaching you.
The teachers, usually one Accepted and one Dedicated, are chosen on a rotational basis. Contact Elyscia Mordel Sedai or Anahi Asha'man if you are interested in helping teach this class.
To join the class, post to the sign-in sheet and then please post a message in which your character arrives in the private classroom in the lessons thread. Good quality of roleplay is expected, as are posts of decent length. One Power Basics is meant to meet four simply goals:
-to evaluate a student's current knowledge of the One Power
-to explain the differences between saidar, saidin and the Five Powers
-to walk a channeler through touching the True Source for the first time
-to walk a student through channeling for the first time.
If the student already knows how to channel, then they should demonstrate their proficiency by preforming a simple weave.
In order to pass this class the student must make 6 posts of 200 words each, minimum. Once a student has completed the class, their teacher will send him/her a certificate, so that it can be used as a raising requirement.
That said, this class is meant to be enjoyable. This is also a good time for the instructor to put any fears or concerns a new channeler may have about the One Power more at ease. I hope you have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to email the Mistress of Novices or Master of Soldiers

Get Her Done...

Eliza Maddix had been called to the Mistress of the Novices office quite a bit when she was a novice. Her offenses could not be counted with four hands. She smiled wryly when she thought of her first year at the Grey Tower. It was a struggle for the Aes Sedai back then to turn her from a street thief into a proper initiate. In the end they won out.
Today however she was asked to take over a lesson. Teaching was something she didn't mind. It gave her a chance to be away from the library, and away from her own Ajah that seemed to need a constant firm hand. Browns tended to need to be guided most of the time if there were things to be done.
When she entered the lesson hall, her blue eye's took in the Accepted and novice. She smiled slightly. "Accepted Sora you are needed in the Mistress of Novices office." The Accepted's eyes widened, which she shook her head at. "Your not in trouble, your just needed." Sora left the room quickly, and Eliza took her place in front of Novice Firen.
The child was quite pretty with her dark curly hair and hazel eye's. She looked young for a novice, but there were novices now well into their middle years.
Eliza scanned Sora's notes, and nodded. "I see that you have had some difficulty, but for the most part you have done extremely well. We are going to push you a bit. Eliza embraced the Source. She spun a thin flow of each of the Five Powers.
"The One Power is a wondrous thing, so much so that we must fear, and love it at the same time. The more you touch it, the more you will want to touch it. That is the danger that we must face. Draw in to much, and you can burn the ability right out of you. Most that have done this die as a result because they miss the draw of Saidar." She directed a firm look at the Novice.
"There are Five Powers that are named by what they can affect. There is Fire, which from the notes you have an affinity for, Water, Air, sometimes called Wind, Earth, and Spirit. Water and Air are predominately strong in females. Fire and Earth are generally stronger in males. Spirit is shared between the two sexes. That is the rule in most cases, but it is not always the case. There are women that have gone on to become quite strong weaving Earth, and some men that have great strength in Water." She directed Firen to observe the five flows before her.
"Each of the Powers resonate with a feeling. When you have channeled long enough you will not have to see what another woman is channeling to know what she is channeling. I want you to embrace the Source first, and try and feel what each flow is. Please describe how it feels to you, and what you think the flow is. If you feel ready go ahead and try and weave a small thread of each of the flows." She smiled at the Novice. This was sometimes the hardest for most, but she thought the Novice should be able to hold her own with the task.
OOC: Since Firen has been waiting for a while I thought we would just jump in and get it done fast if that is alright with you. :)
