Jerid watched patiently as Janos wove the flows for the lesson, noticing that the weave was channeled sufficiently enough. By now every one of his students had learned to not speak during the class, especially since they now studied under the Master of Soldiers. More pranks had been thwarted and punishments doled out here than anywhere else.

When the Soldier had finished his weave, Jerid motioned for the boy to take a step forward. “Remember your beginning lessons in channeling, Soldier. In order for a weave to have any lasting aspect, you must tie it off. Only then will a ter’angreal bear any semblance of permanency. You may try again if you like.”

The Indigo tilted his head and added with a softer tone, “Also remember that the absence of any Talent right now does not mean its preclusion. If you’ve sufficient skill, this Talent can be learned. And if not, it is not the sole primary goal of this Ajah.”

Taking a step back, the Asha’man gestured quietly. “As you wish, Soldier, you may continue or be excused.” It was a rare offer, for the Master of Soldiers rarely, if ever, allowed for second chances.
