Today was the last lesson, and she felt a slight tinge of regret, all of it having seemed to go by so quickly. The group of students was rather wonderful to work with this time around, with relatively few troublemakers about to get her blood boiling. All the same she was looking forward to seeing what her students would manage to come up and hoped to see more passing marks that failures, it had always broken Laela's heart to ever give a failing mark, she seldom ever saw anybody take a class after a failure. Finally standing before them, she cleared her throat and began her final lecture. “Today marks the final day of class. We will be covering everything that we've learned, and seeing if we can put what we have learned to use.” “Creating a ter'angreal is a tricky and dangerous process, but for some, the rewards outweigh the risks. One must keep in mind that while using the key elements of fire and earth, one must also remember that sometimes other flows will be necessary. When making a ter'angreal to take you into the world of dreams, a flow of spirit is necessary, to be woven into its original shape and than pressed into the design. Each item will have different properties that will require different elements and weaves to augment the effects. Some can only be made with both saidin and saidar, some can only be used by women, the possibilities are quite literally endless.” “One of the greatest joys in creating a ter'angreal is the amount of creativity that you are afforded, you can really let you mind wander to all the different possibilities. There is virtually nothing outside the realm of possibility, provided you find a realistic solution.” “And so, for your final assignment I want you to come up with a ter'angreal, and write me a proposal for the item. I want you to tell me all that you can about it. Tell me what flows will be required, whether or not it can be used by non-channelers, or if it will require the power to use. If it can be used by men, women or either. Whether or not it will need to be made by a man or a woman or require both. Also list inherent dangers of such a tool, if any exist. I would like there to be some depth to the paper, and so do not be afraid to describe all that you can. It doesn't have to be a great piece of literature, mind you, a simple outline will suffice. Please turn it in at the end of class. You may begin.” |
