Requirements to Join the Council of Youth
Described here are the requirements for joining the Council of Yoth as a member. For more information on the Council of Youth, visit the Frequently Asked Questions and see About the Council of Youth. For records of past discussions, see the Archive. For information on who administers the Council and who are its members, visit the Members of the Council of Youth.

How to Join

Petitions from the "middle ranks" of Accepted, Dedicated, and Ji'alantin/ar are considered for joining the Council of Youth. This is because Novices, Soldiers, and Drin'far'ji should have the freedom to concentrate on getting used to the Tower and developing their characters without additional responsibilities or obligations to participate. Of course, active participation in the Tower is encouraged, so the beginning ranks are encouraged to plan ahead by contributing "above and beyond" requirements and report it after being raised to the middle ranks. A few exceptions may be made.

Petitions to join the Council of Youth would include instances in which one achieved "above and beyond Raising Requirements". Usually these are achievements that are not used for Raising Requirements at all, but on rare occasions a Raising Requirement that was completed particularly well or is particularly beneficial may apply. Only one achievement is required, but more would help the petition pass review.

Your Petition to Join

In general, the spirit is one of creativity and taking the initiative to go above and beyond raising requirements with an emphasis on IC role-play and taking on extra duties.

Examples:

  • Grading lessons for teachers
  • Teaching extra classes
  • Taking over abandoned classes
  • Contributing to Tower discussions about improvements.
  • (For WiTs): Writing one's Survival Test fanfic.

Then conclude the application with a paragraph on what you can contribute in ways that you find important. Submit your petition to your Mistress of the Novices, Master of Soldiers, or Training via this Petition a MoNSTer link.

If your petition is approved, (or your MoNSTer advises you on how to build a satisfactory petition) you will be admitted and expected to be a productive and active member of the forum. The spirit of the Council will be enforced.
