Welcome!
Welcome to the Basic Battleweaves class. Feel free to use a NPC for the lessons that require a partner. Enjoy!
Lesson One: Lightning
Lagon stood in the front of the classroom, nodding to each student as they filed in. Mora stood beside Lagon, eyeing each student as they walked in the door. Once they were all assembeled, Kirenna began to speak.
"I am Lagon Darith, Asha'man of the Green ajah, and this is Mora Harnvill, Accepted of the Blue ajah" He paused and motioned towards Mora. "Hello, class," he added.
He continued. "Welcome to Basic Battleweaves. In this class, we will just be studying the easiest battleweaves. Mora will be helping me out to demonstrate the weaves to the females in the class. But first, you must understand that these battleweaves are dangerous and are only to be used in the defense of your life, that of your warder, or another member of the Grey Tower. Novices and soldiers should never practice these weaves without an higher rank about. That being said, today's lesson will be about lightning. We will be going to the Channeling Yard.
Lagon embraced Saidan and wove the flows nessesary for Traveling. A gateway appeared with a clearing on the other side.
"Now, you will all go in the Yard and wait until I am there before you do anything." Lagon ushered the students through. Mora walked through last, and noded to Lagon as she walked though.
Lagon stepped through the Gateway. Yes, this was the right place. "Now. Lightning. I myself have seen four different ways to summon lightning, and I'm sure there are many more. I am going to demonstrate the way which I believe is the easiest."
Lagon wove a pillar of air in the sky, and placed another of fire right next to it. The flows wove themselves together, and a bolt of white hot lightning shot down harmlessly into the Channeling Yard. Many novices and soldiers clapped when the saw the bolt. Mora seized Saidar, and replicated the weave, two pillars size by side, creating a bolt of lightnight, which forked slightly before striking the ground. The same students applauded again, sheepishly. Mora just looked at them.
"Now, novices and soldiers. You will be making lightning, but not quite to the extent that we just demonstrated. I would like you to make your 'pillars' not quite as high as mine. And, aim your flows at a rock, for safety's sake. Accepted and Dedicated may duplicate what we did. Now, Mora and I will be walking around and watching you make a bolt of lightning and assisting you if you need help."
Lesson Two: Fireball
Lagon nodded to each student as they entered. Mora stood in front of the class, watching them, face hard as stone. As soon as the class was assembled he began.
"Now today we are going to learn another simple battleweave, the fireball. We will go to the same area as we did yesterday." This time Mora seized Saidar and made the gateway to the Channeling Yard. "After you," She motionned towards Lagon and the class. Each student stepped through, followed by Lagon then Mora.
"This," He said when they were all comfortable in the Yard, "Is how you make a fireball. You will take a thin weave of Fire and a thin weave of Air and weave them into a ball." Lagon did so as he talked. "You then take another weave of air and use it to propell the ball wherever you want it to go." Lagon did so and the ball flew and hit the dry grass and started burning. Mora quickly used a weave of water and doused the fire. "For the Novices and Accepted, this is what the weave looks like." Mora said, as he started weaving fire and air together. Mora then propelled the fireball. Taking some threads of fire, Lagon pulled the heat into himself to douse the flames.
"I want you all to get a partner." Lagon said. "One of you will make a fireball and the other will put out the fire. Then you will switch. We will be walking around if you need help." He nodded towards Mora and helped some soldiers out.
Lesson Three: Flashfire
Lagon stood in front of the class and nodded to each student as they entered. Mora sat beside him. They both looked relaxed. When the class was assembled he began.
"We will be doing today's lesson in the channeling yards again." Lagon led the students through the halls of the Grey Tower, instead of making a Gateway. Mora took up the rear of the group to make sure they didn't lose anyone, not that she expected to. The rules were strict about everything here at the tower.
"Now. Today's lesson is on flashfire. This battleweave consists of fire and air once again. You weave a thin flow of air like so, and a weave of fire next to it. You twist them together, and use a flow of air to push it off. When you do..." Lagon let the weave go. Mora mimicked the weaves as Lagon spoke, which was difficult. She tried to synk her flows with Lagon. They matched with the practiced precision. Simultanious rings of fire spread out around Lagon and Mora. Quickly they put out the fires with flows of water and fire.
"Now, get a partner like last lesson. If you need help, we will be walking around checking up on you."
Lesson Four: Static Field
Lagon smiled as his last student arrived, and he immediately wove a gateway. "Once again, please step through the gateway and into the Yards where we will begin our lesson for today. I'm sick of all those stairs..." He followed his students into the Channeling Yard, where Mora was waiting for them. She nodded as each of them walked though the gateway.
"Today we will be discussing a weave called Static Field. Depending on the strength, this can warn someone with a gentle shock that they should not enter or electrocute them. It can be used on a wider scale than the electrocution weave we learned earlier, and is often used as a defensive weapon in battle. To form the weave, weave a mat of Air crisscrossed diagonally with Fire. Then fill all the remaining holes with Water to make it electrocute anyone who steps into it. If you wish to only shock someone gently, you crisscross the mat diagonally with Water, but opposite the Fire and leave the holes open."
He demonstrated the weave twice, once with the weave modified to shock someone, and once as electrocution. At the same time Mora demonstrated the weave for the girls in the class, in the same way that Lagon did. "Are there any questions? If not, find a partner and practice both weaves. Please make sure you stay far away from anyone attempting this weave - you do not want to be electrocuted, I am sure."
Lesson Five: Quagmire
Lagon had instructed his students to meet him in the Channeling Yard for their final lesson, as it would be easier, and he had arrived early to clear an area for them to use. Mora arrived a little while later, but before the students arived. He went over the lesson mentally, just as he saw the students arriving. As they began to arrive, Lagon directed the students to stand around the two of them in a semi-circle.
"Today is our final lesson. We will be discussing a weave. I call it a Swamp, though it can also be referred to as Quagmire or simply Mire. This weave is mostly used as a trap, to catch the enemy without hurting them, though its use can be modified and is limited only by the imagination of the channeler, as are most of the weaves you have learned thus far."
He seized Saidin, as Mora surrendered to saidar, and began to weave as he explained. "To begin, weave a mat of Earth, like a basic basket weave, and fill the holes with Water. Lay it down on the ground and manipulate the Water threads to make a mire of mud. Note that weaving threads of Water into existing ground, and manipulating that into a mudlike state can modify this." Mora demonstrated the same weave.
"Now, find an area that seems dry and practice this. Please keep your eyes on the ground, and do not get caught in someone else's Mire. We will be around to help any who need it." Lagon and Mora split up in search of students to help.
