Welcome!

Welcome to the Traveling Class. In this class we will look at the very basics of Traveling. It isn't hard.

Lesson One: OOC Interest
This is not a real IC lesson but you need to write here how you have gained interest in the talent of Traveling. That can be by:
- You saw another Asha’man or Aes Sedai use it and you liked to learn it.
- You were born with the ability and you would like to learn more about it.
- You read a book and gained interest
- Or what ever.

We’re not expecting a fanfic (nor a book) but something good, about 200 words.

Lesson Two: Theory
Jenna looked at the class. She had arrived early and was waiting for Lagon and the students to file in. There as always would be a split somewhere along the line but they would worry about it when they got there.

Lagon walked in and they smiled at each other. Then the first of the students started to arrive. When all where there she did a role call. "Okay so welcome everyone. I want to start off the lesson with introductions. My name is Jenna al'Majere Sedai and my partner is Lagon Darith Asha'man. Now before we begin I would like you all to write your name on a piece of paper and bring it to the front. That way we will know who you are and where to begin." She smiled warmly at them. Silly novices and soldiers. Scared of what should intrigue them. She thought. She handed out the paper and soon had all the names. “Ok, now that we have that done we will begin with the real work.” Lagon started. “We’ll talk about the theory on Traveling. It can bring you in a few moments to the other side of the world. Traveling was ‘invented’ in the Age of Legends. It as normal as water flowing in the river. After the Age of Legends it was forgotten, but it was rediscovered not so long ago. This is a perfect example that the Ages are coming back.” He looked around to see if the students understood what he was saying. That were the main things that he wanted to say. “Oh yes, another important thing is that you should NEVER touch the edges of a Gateway. They are as sharp as a thousand knives.”

“For this lesson,” Jenna said with a loud voice, “You need to write a paper of 200 words about this talent. This can be about this lesson but this can also be about things you personally know or what an Aes Sedai or Asha’man told you. Also write in your paper a little about the place were you grew up."

Lesson Three: Weaving
The class was full with students. Lagon and Jenna stood in front of the class. Lagon raised his hand and the mumbling soon faded away. “Today,” he started, ”We’ll talk about the weaving of Traveling. Some of you will not be able to make a gateway since you need to use a lot of the One Power, but we'll help you on the way. Now, Traveling is a weave of Water, Air, Fire, Earth and Spirit. Water, Air, Fire and Earth should be of the same strength but there must be more Spirit. The further you want to travel the powerful the streams must be. Of course, Women and men make different Gateways, so for this lesson the girls need to follow Jenna Sedai's weave and the boys mine.” Lagon paused for a while and Jenna continued. “All streams must be woven in a column like this.” She said and made a Gateway. Lagon weaved one for the Soldiers as well. “While weaving,” she continued, “You must picture the place where you are standing at the moment and the place where you want to be. Your Gateways will be small and instable since you are weak in making them, but don't worry, you will make bigger ones.” This information was just the beginning of the lesson. The best was yet to come. “Also good to know is that you can weave a alarm, so that if someone is on the other side of the Gateway, he knows that you are coming.”

Now your task for this lesson is to come to the front of the class and the girls will link with Jenna Sedai. Then she will make a Gateway. Because you are linked to her, you will feel the streams and see how it is weaved. Then the boys will link with Jenna Sedai and me. Because you are linked to me you will also see how the weave is made. Then you will make a Gateway to your own room. But hold the Gateway open, so that we can see were you have gone off to."

Lesson Four: Skimming
The classroom was empty when Lagon opened the door. The grey walls without decoration were the perfect location for the Traveling class he taught with Jenna. He took a seat in front of the class and waited for the students he was teaching. Shortly after that the students Jenna walked in. There was still a lot of noise but after he raised his hand silence came. “We’ll be talking about skimming today,” Lagon said while lowering his hand. “Skimming resembles Traveling a lot so it will be easy to learn, but there are still some differences. For Skimming you need to use the same streams -Fire, Earth Air, Water and Spirit - but you need to use them in the same amount. With Traveling you need more Spirit, but with Skimming the streams are equal.” Jenna continued on this. “Also,” she started,” with Traveling, you make a portal to another location, one you know well, while with Skimming you step on a platform and this brings you to where-ever you want to be. The platform can be whatever you like.” After that said Lagon and Jenna both weaved a Gateway and let the students look inside. Lagon’s platform was the sign of the Aes-Sedai with a chair on it, while Jenna’s was a simple Marble platform with the symbol of both the Aes Sedai and the Asha'Men. “Skimming is slower then Traveling and less accurate but it is still a good and simple way of getting from point A to point B.” Lagon said. That concluded the lesson of today. He wondered if his lessons were long enough but he didn’t have time to think about it.

“For this lesson,” Jenna said with mild tone, “You need to repeat what we have said today and you must weave a skimming gateway. OOC: Please desrcibe the Platform in this post.

Lesson Five: Final
Lagon made sure that there were some desks in the back of the room and some free space in the front. This lesson would tell him if the students were actually listening the last times. Students came inside to room and were surprised to find desks. Mumbling aroused and Jenna ordered them to be quiet. “Please take a seat and be quiet.” she said. They took a seat and looked around with scared eyes. They probably didn’t think that there would be a test today.

“Today,” Lagon started, “we will check if you were actually listening the past week. On you desk is a piece of paper and a pen. You will write down what you remembered about the following subjects: Theory, Weaving of Traveling and Skimming. And please be detailed. You have one hour to completed the test. Then you will come to the front and make a Traveling and a Skimming Gateway, and also be detailed. Ready? Begin!”
