Master of Soldiers - Keeper of Chronicles - M'Hael - Amyrlin Seat - W-C Representative - Mistress of Novices

Note: Tertiary Characters use these Raising Requirements just as Secondary Characters do.

Note: Secondary Character Drin'far'ji are to complete the Warder in Training raising requirements, but instead of the Grey Tower Introductory Class, they are to write a fanfic of at least 800 words, to be submitted to the library and a roleplay thread containing at least 6 reasonable-length (200 words) posts by the candidate, with at least one other Tower member contributing. The URL of this thread shall be given in the application request for raising.

For a Novice/Soldier to be raised to Accepted/Dedicated:

  1.  Candidate must spend a minimum of four weeks as a Novice/Soldier.
  2.  Candidate can choose between:
    - Take and pass one channeling class. (Check the Class List to see what's available).
    - Roleplay three lessons with members of the Tower. At least two of these lessons must be channeling lessons and the threads must be of reasonable length. (six or more posts by both teacher and student, average length of 150-200 words per post.)
  3. A roleplay thread containing at least 6 reasonable-length (200 words) posts by the candidate, with at least one other Tower member contributing. The URL of this thread shall be given in the application request for Raising to the ring/sword pin.
  4. Candidate must choose an Ajah of Aspiration. See the FAQ for further details.
  5. Candidate must roleplay at least once with a new player. (If you are uncertain whether a character is new, check the Member listing. "New" is currently defined as "a Primary Character who has been at the Tower for less than seven months, and whose player has not had any previous characters at the Grey Tower.")
  6.  Candidate must complete two further Raising Requirements. These can be any two of the following:
  •  Write a Fanfic. We suggest you read the Fanfic Guidelines before you start, and be sure to send a copy to the Keeper.
  •  Participation in an official Tower Roleplay, chosen from the Roleplay List. Note that you have to have actively participated in it, but the RP does not have to have finished when you apply to be Raised.
  •  The creation of a web page to expand the Grey Tower. This can be a page or pages involving anything linked to the Tower. Simply creating a message board does not count as a Raising Requirement- an original webpage is required. Please seek the consent of the Amyrlin Seat and M'Hael before you begin the page.
  •  The completion of another class in addition to the class required for your raising will count as a separate raising requirement.
  •  The performance of a prank, either in a group or alone, that has been approved by the Mistress of Novices or Master of Soldiers and cleared with the people whom the candidate intends to play their prank on. These pranks cannot include the impersonation of another player's character without the said character player's approval, and cannot harm or kill another playing character. Like all RP raising requirements, the RP thread must contain at least six posts of decent length (200 words) by the character requesting raising. All consequences of the prank must also be dealt with before raising is requested.
Once you are ready to be raised, send the following information to admin regardless of whether you are a Novice or a Soldier.

  1.  Character name, date joined (day/month/year), current rank (Novice/Soldier), Ajah(s) of aspiration.
  2.  Either:
Title of class completed, and name of teacher. The teacher should acknowledge that you have passed the class by sending you a mail. You should include a copy of this mail in your raising application. If your teacher forgets to send you a mail saying you've passed, then explain the situation in your application form, and include a link to the classroom so we can check.
    or:
Links to the Roleplaying threads chosen to use as Raising Requirement.
  3. Confirmation that you have roleplayed with your mentor. You should ask your mentor to send you an email to be forwarded with your raising application, or you may send a link to a thread you have completed with your mentor.
  4. Confirmation of your completion of the other Raising Requirement. This proof should take the form of the URL of your roleplay thread.
  5.  Confirmation of your completion of the other Raising Requirements. This proof should take the form of two of the following, depending on which of the above RRs you have chosen to complete:
  • A copy of the fanfic if you have chosen to write one. (Note that this may not, for obvious reasons, be your Three Arches fanfic.)
  • The URL of your approved GT webpage, if you have chosen to make one.
  • The URL of the MB for the new Roleplay, if you have created one.
  • Confirmation that you have passed another class, if you chose to take two.
  • The URL of the Prank Roleplay thread, if you have chosen to flaunt the laws of the Tower and risk the wrath of the Mistress of Novices and Master of Soldiers.

Note that any and all outstanding formal IC punishments as detailed on this page must be completed prior to raising.

Once your raising application has been sent, you should expect to receive the Test of the Arches in your mail within a few days. The final step to becoming Accepted/Dedicated is to complete this test, after which you will be awarded the sword pin or Great Serpent ring.

For an Accepted/Dedicated to be raised to Aes Sedai/Asha'man:

  1.  Candidate must have held their current rank (A/D) for at least five weeks.
  2.  Candidate must either:
    - Teach a class, with at least five students, with one or more passing the class, (In case of extenuating circumstances, validity of the class as an rr will be left to the discretion of the MoS/MoN) and containing at least five lessons of a decent length. Topic and outline must be approved beforehand by the MoS or MoN as appropriate.
    - Teach five lessons. These lessons can be on various subjects, not necessarily on channeling, and can be taught to various people on various times. Threads should include at least six installments of reasonable length (150-200 words average) by both teacher and student.
    - Give one or more lectures equalling 2500 words in total. (One lecture of 2500 words, or five of 500 words.)
    - Teach a "one time only" class on a rare Talent, Advantage, or Skill.
  3.  Candidate must complete one interaction with the Ajah of their choice - a roleplay on the D2D with an Aes Sedai/Asha'man of the Ajah of aspiration will suffice. If no member of your aspiring Ajah is available, or in necessary circumstances, you may complete this interaction with any Aes Sedai or Asha'man, but this is not recommended.

  4. Candidate must complete two further Raising Requirements. These can be any of the following:

  •  Write a Fanfic of at least 800-1000 words. We suggest you read the Fanfic Guidelines before you start, and be sure to send a copy to the Keeper.

Note that this requirement will be much more stringent than the one for Novices and Soldiers, and you will be expected to do more work on this webpage.
  • If you are feeling ambitious, you can start an official Roleplay on a message board of your own creation. This involves a commitment to monitoring the progress of the RP and posting there regularly. Note that you must have made such a commitment in order for this raising requirement to be valid. We will not allow twelve posts (as a random example) to count for this raising requirement. Please seek the consent of the M'Hael or the Amyrlin Seat before doing this, and inform the Keeper once you have received permission, so he can add your roleplay to the list. This does not have to be finished when you apply, but the RP should be well under way. If you have any questions about this, email the M'hael and Amyrlin.

  •  The completion of a class will count as a separate raising requirement.

5. Candidate must gain acceptance into their Ajah of choice.

When all your requirements are completed, you must send the following information to admin:
  1.  Character name, date raised to Acceptance/Dedication (day/month/year), current rank (Accepted/Dedicated), Ajah of aspiration.
  2. Either the title and MB address of the class you have taught, or the URLs of the teaching threads you have RPed.
  3.  As proof of your minor Ajah interaction, include either a copy of the email from respective Aes Sedai/Asha'man, or the URL of the RP. The Aes Sedai/Asha'man involved must confirm somewhere in writing that the RP was an acceptable Ajah interaction.
  4.  You must ask for written acceptance into your chosen Ajah from the Head Aes Sedai or Asha'man of that Ajah. Include this acceptance in your application.
  5.  The required proof of your additional raising requirements is exactly the same as above.
  6.  You must include the Three Oaths, to which your character will be bound from the moment they are raised to the shawl/cord:
  7.   "Under the Light, I swear as a member of the Grey Tower to speak no word that is untrue."

"Under the Light, I swear as a member of the Grey Tower to make no weapon with which one man may kill another."

"Under the Light I swear as a member of the Grey Tower never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn, or in the last defence of my own life, that of my Warder, or that of another brother or sister of the Grey Tower."

Note that any and all outstanding formal IC punishments as detailed on this page must be completed prior to raising.

Once you have sent your application containing all the above information, you should expect to receive the Test of the Ajahs in your mail within a few days. The final step to becoming an Aes Sedai or Asha'man is to successfully complete this test, after which you will receive your Ajah cord and Dragon pin if you are an Asha'man, or your Ajah shawl if you are an Aes Sedai.

Good Luck!
