| Requests for sharas and semi-sharas (our terms for leaves of absence, or partial leaves of absence) are necessary for players who will not be fully active in the Tower in either an OOC or IC capacity for any length of time exceeding one or two days. The below list informs the rest of the Tower who is not available for role-play or OOC contact. It also enables Big and Major RPs to continue uninterrupted, although it does not prevent a player from being written out of a plot. If you know you must go on Shara, please resolve your plots first - it's polite. For all players, this also means that the following characters will not be deleted if they do not answer when the biannual census is sent out.
For players who have administrative roles in their Ajahs, such as Ajah Heads or Sitters, a certain level of activity is required in order to keep up with their duties. If a Sitter or Ajah Head has not posted to the Hall of Sitters in two months or in two votes in a row, they may be removed from office with or without declaring a full or semi-shara. Although, posting a shara may mean more leeway when the Sitter or Ajah Head's case is considered.
Officers have activity guidelines as well, and are required to post sharas if they can not complete applications in the time limits set by the Hall of Sitters. Officers have sixty "shara" days per year, and may gain an extension of thirty more days, by special dispensation from the Amyrlin Seat or M'Hael.
Under both circumstances, going on shara or leaving the Tower without notice, without posting a shara, is known as deserting one's post. Deserters are only allowed one more chance in an administrative role with supervision. A second desertion leads to banning from office. To go on Shara, please fill out the Shara form. Be sure to let us know when you have returned by submitting a return-from-Shara form. It is not sufficient to simply post on the MMB; you must fill out the above form to request or return from Shara.
